MUTXIKO elkartea\u00a0participated in the dancer\u2019s festival EUSKAL HERRIKO DANTZALDIA 2008 in Gallarta, Biscay. Together with Mutxiko, these groups took part in the festival:<\/p>\n

\u00a0From the 7th to the 9th of June<\/b><\/p>\n

Mutxiko received the visit of Rancho Folclorico de Outeiro from Outeiro, Viana do Castelo, in Portugal. Mutxiko travelled to Viana in 2007, and this time it was the Portuguese group who came to Hendaye (both towns are twinned). \u00a0During their stay they had the chance to visit Hendaye, Hondarribia, San Sebastian, \u2026Both groups offered a dance Performance in Daniel Ugarte (Belzenia) pilota court in Hendaye. Our thanks to the Town hall of Hendaye and the twinning committee for their help hosting the Portuguese group.<\/p>\n

12th and 24th July<\/b><\/p>\n

Mutxiko Elkartea offered two performances in the Holliday center Hai\u00e7abia in Hendaye.<\/p>\n

Mutxiko offered two complete dance performances in the Chourio pilota court in Ascain, as part of the summer activities programme of that town.<\/p>\n

Mutxiko took part in the parade of the Euskal Jaia<\/p>\n

Performance in Sokoburu, Hendaye, as part of the activities the town organises for the summer.<\/p>\n

Mutxiko offered a complete dance performance in the trinquet (small covered pilota court) in Ascain, as part of the summer activities programme of that town.<\/p>\n

From the 16th to the 31st<\/sup> August<\/b><\/p>\n

Voyage to Argentina<\/b><\/p>\n

An unforgettable trip for the Group. Mutxiko Elkartea, together with \u00ab\u00a0Meakako adiskideak\u00a0\u00bb from Irun, travelled to Argentina. 28 members of the group had the chance to visit and offer different performances in these towns:<\/p>\n

In Mendoza, <\/b>thanks to the local Basque Center ‘Denak Bat’, a performance was offered in the pilota court
\nIn San Juan<\/b>, thanks to the local Basque Center, a performance was offered in the <\/b>\u00a0Sarmiento theatre
\nIn C\u00f3rdoba<\/b>, a performance was offered thanks to the local Basque Center \u201c<\/b>Gure Txokoa\u201d
\nIn Paran\u00e1, <\/b>a performance was offered in the public theatre \u201c3 de Febrero\u201d, together with \u201c<\/b>Urrundik\u201d, the dance group of the local Basque Center that holds the same name.
\nIn Buenos Aires<\/b>, with the help of the members of the Basque Center a performance was offered in the trinquet. More than 200 people gathered to see the performance, which was a perfect way to say good-bye that long-dreamt voyage. With a final farandole together with the public of Buenos Aires, the group said good bye to Argentina.<\/p>\n

For both groups it was the first time in America, and it was a trip full of emotions and enriching experiences. Our thanks to the people in the Basque Centers that we visited, for their warmth and for taking such a good care of ourselves. We will never forget you and the beautiful land of Argentina.<\/p>\n

5th October<\/b><\/p>\n

Prentsaketa<\/b><\/p>\n

The \u201dprentsaketa\u201d or pressing of the apple is held every year, and they show how to press the apple for the making of cider, a very typical Basque drink. Mutxiko danced \u201d sagar-dantza\u201d or dance of the apple, followed by Mutxikoak, and other popular dances.<\/p>\n

From the 10th to the 13th October<\/b><\/p>\n

Viana do Castelo, Portugal<\/b><\/p>\n

The authorities in Viana invited some representatives of the different associations in Hendaye, in order to take part in the different activities they had organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signature of the twinning agreement between both towns. 7 members from Mutxiko Elkartea travelled to Viana and danced in the streets of the Portuguese town.<\/p>\n
